Chatsworth, Calif.-based laserdisc and DVD distributor Image Entertainment has signed an exclusive, worldwide licensing and distribution agreement with GRB Entertainment.
The multiyear deal gives Image videocassette, laserdisc, DVD and DVD-ROM rights to the mostly
cable series programming of GRB, including the latest installment of the "Movie Magic" cable series -- "Disasters at Sea" -- which chronicles the making of "Titanic."
Image scheduled an April 21 release of that title but is considering advancing the release to tie into the March 23 Academy Awards.
GRB owns 150 hours of programming being shown in 120 countries and plans to produce another 30 hours per year that Image has an option to release in all formats. Steeplechase Entertainment, headed by Herb Dorfman and Joe Pershes, would represent Image on videocassette releases.
Most GRB programming is seen in the United States on the Discovery Channel and Learning Channel in series such as "Movie Magic" and "Sea Tek."
