Movie Magic To Creative Community

Creative Planet, which operates a network of business-to-business Web sites catering to entertainment professionals, said Monday that it will purchase several assets belonging to Screenplay Systems Inc.

Creative Planet will pay an undisclosed amount of cash and give

Screenplay Systems an equity position in Creative Planet, said Allen DeBevoise, Creative Planet CEO. In return, Creative Planet will get the rights to software products Movie Magic Scheduling, Movie Magic Budgeting and Movie Magic Labor Rates. Screenplay Systems will retain its Dramatica software line and its Movie Magic Screenwriter and Movie Magic Contracts.

"They've built some very good applications and have a large market share in the TV and film business," DeBevoise said. According to the companies, 95% of Hollywood's feature films use the three software products. "This acquisition will represent a cornerstone of our business and a significant portion of our revenue," DeBevoise said, adding that the company is seeking further acquisitions.
