FilmFour has optioned the film rights to Sebastian Faulks' best-selling novel "Charlotte Gray" to be produced by "Mrs. Brown" creators Ecosse Films.
Jeremy Brock, who wrote "Mrs. Brown," will write the adaptation. No director is attached.
Ecosse optioned the rights to "Gray," a love story about a young Scottish woman who joins the French Resistance in order to rescue her RAF boyfriend lost in France.
FilmFour's Elinor Day brought the project into the company and will supervise production.
FilmFour recently bolstered its slate by acquiring U.K. distribution rights to five high-profile films from Miramax (HR 4/5). It will handle Kevin Smith's "Dogma," Robert Iscove's "She's All That," Jane Campion's "Holy Smoke," Chris Eyre's "Smoke Signals" and Brad Anderson's "Next Stop: Wonderland."
The deal comes on the heels of FilmFour ramping up its U.K. operations after recent pacts with New Regency and TFI International and the signing of a series of development deals with U.K. producers, including Mark Shivas.
