The promotion represents a milestone for family-controlled Ellis, which was founded 42 years ago by Ralph Ellis.

"Michael has been a vital contributor to the success of Ellis Entertainment since joining the team, and we're delighted to recognize that and his unique knowledge, experience and skills in this key role going forward," Ellis president and CEO Stephen Ellis, said in a statement.

Before joining Ellis, Steinberg completed executive stints at cartoon producer Nelvana Ltd. and the law firm Morris/Rose/Ledgett.

Steinberg also will oversee VisionTV International, a joint venture that VisionTV and Ellis Entertainment launched in 2003.
