M8 Grabs 'persuasion' Rights

TORONTO -- Canadian movie producer M8 Entertainment said Thursday it has acquired the international distribution rights to the Evan Rachel Wood starrer "Pretty Persuasion" from Prospect Pictures for an undisclosed price. Montreal-based M8 picked up the international distribution rights to Marcos Siega's

high school comedy about a young girl who will stop at nothing to gain fame, and intends to begin selling the movie to foreign buyers at AFM in November. Samuel Goldwyn Films and Roadside Attractions released "Pretty Persuasion" in North America in August after it bowed at Sundance. The teen movie recently screened in Deauville. The movie also stars James Woods and Ron Livingston, and was produced by Todd Dagres, Carl Levin, Siega and Matthew Weaver.
