New Line Cinema has paid low-six against mid-six figures for Gigi Levangie's pitch "White Trash Christmas." Suzanne and Jennifer Todd will produce under their Team Todd banner.
The story is about a conservative district attorney/future mayoral candidate who is looking
forward to meeting his fiancee's family during the Christmas holidays. The politician experiences a rude awakening when he arrives at a trailer park in Riverside, Calif., and meets the family during a record-breaking December heat wave.
New Line Cinema execs Claire Rudnick Polstein and Carolyn Manetti are overseeing the project for the studio.
"Gigi Levangie is someone we have always wanted to be in business with, plus this is a great story," Rudnick Polstein said.
Levangie, who is repped by the William Morris Agency, Industry Entertainment (formerly known as Addis-Wechsler) and attorney Jason Sloane, has worked with Team Todd on TriStar Pictures' "Teacher, Teacher," which will star Tom Selleck.
The writer also worked on TriStar's untitled Christopher Columbus project previously known as "Stepmom." That film stars Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon and Ed Harris.
