The $155 million William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Center, archiving nearly 100 million documents, two million photographs, and 75,000 pieces of memorabilia, will be one of the city's most visible landmarks when it opens in 2004 in downtown's River Market District. Asked by Successful Meetings

about the expected impact of his memorial on Arkansas' capital, President Clinton responded that "it will be the first Presidential Library to partner with a convention center, through receptions, conferences, and other uses of our state-of-the-art facilities. We expect to be a vibrant part of Little Rock." Regarding the Center's humanitarian mission, Clinton says, "it is already hard at work on projects to benefit America and other nations, like fighting HIV/AIDS; promoting racial, religious, and ethnic reconciliation; and empowering poor people and citizen service."

Next to the library, Heifer International, the not-for-profit that addresses world hunger, will be building its $65 million world headquarters on 30 acres. With no current timetable, Heifer will eventually have a "Global Village" depicting living conditions in other nations, such as it does at Heifer Ranch in Perrysville, AR. Forty-five minutes from Little Rock, the Ranch offers "real world" teambuilding experiences as well as a conference center with rustic overnight accommodations for up to 122.
