Heartland Payment Systems' CEO Bob Carr Wins Ernst & Young 2007 Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Carr honored for both his business achievements and charitable contributions as founder of the Give Something Back Foundation
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Bob Carr, chairman and CEO of Heartland Payment Systems (NYSE:HPY), a leading provider of credit/debit/prepaid card processing, payroll and payment services, has been named a 2007 "Entrepreneur of the Year" by Ernst & Young. The award - bestowed in the "Business Services" category - recognizes and celebrates outstanding entrepreneurs and business leaders in New Jersey.
Carr was recognized not only for his achievements as the founder and CEO of Heartland Payment Systems, but also for his charitable contributions as the founder of the Give Something Back Foundation.
"It is an honor to receive this award and represent the achievements of everyone at Heartland Payment Systems as we celebrate our tenth anniversary," Carr noted. "As business leaders and successful entrepreneurs, it is beneficial for us to share our wealth and experience with our communities. What makes this particular award so gratifying is that it also recognizes the work of our Give Something Back Foundation, a scholarship program I believe makes a difference for disadvantaged young people who want to improve their lives."
The Give Something Back Foundation currently works with public, parochial and private schools - as well as universities - to provide quality educational opportunities to students. The foundation's programs include mentoring programs, cultural opportunities and planning for academic growth. In the fall of 2007, 32 students will be attending various public and private colleges and universities. In addition, 85 students will be in enrolled in various programs ranging from K-12 with the objective of preparing these students for a superior college education.
As an award finalist, Carr is eligible to participate in the national Entrepreneur of the Year awards which take place in Palm Springs, California, November 15-18.
