rPath founder and former Red Hat executive will help bring Digium open source telephony solutions to businesses worldwide
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Digium[R], Inc., the Asterisk[R] company, today announced the appointment of rPath founder and CTO Erik W. Troan to its board of directors, the latest high-profile industry veteran to join Digium's leadership team as the company forges into new business markets.
Troan has an impressive history of business and technical success during 15 years in the open source industry. Before founding rPath, a Digium partner company that transforms applications into software appliances, Troan held several leadership positions at Red Hat including vice president of product engineering, senior director of marketing, and chief developer for Red Hat Software.
"We're honored to welcome someone with Erik's experience and vision to our board," said Digium CEO Danny J. Windham. "Red Hat made Linux a reliable answer for companies around the world and now Digium is doing the same with Asterisk. Erik's leadership will be instrumental as we transform the way businesses operate their communication systems through open source software."
Troan has co-authored two editions of "Linux Application Development," a standard reference guide for C programmers developing applications that run on Linux. He holds Bachelor's degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University and a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Virginia.
