Con-way Freight Celebrates Driver's Two Million Accident-Free-Mile Achievement.

Professional Truck Driver Larry Painter Joins Elite Group of Con-way Drivers

ANN ARBOR, Mich., and FRESNO, Calif. -- Con-way Freight, a less-than-truckload (LTL) freight carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), today announced that driver Larry Painter has logged his two millionth

accident-free mile. The company celebrated this achievement in a ceremony recently at its Fresno, Calif., service center. Painter traveled his accident-free miles between 1985 and 2006. Two million miles is the equivalent of more than 4,300 runs of his typical route between Fresno and Willows, Calif., without an accident.

"All of us at Con-way take great pride and pleasure in honoring Larry Painter for his exceptional achievement," said David S. McClimon, president, Con-way Freight. "This milestone clearly demonstrates Larry's commitment and dedication to safety -- one of our core values."

Painter has driven for Con-way Freight for 21 years, and earned company honors as California Driver of the Month in 1999 and 2003, and California Driver of the Year in 2003. He has been a professional truck driver for 30 years and currently lives in Fresno with his wife of 32 years. The couple has two children. In his time off, he enjoys collecting die-cast cars.
