Since 1997, Scholarship Grants Totaling $369,750 Have Been Awarded to 263 Deserving Students Attending Post-Secondary Educational Institutions
POTTSTOWN, Pa. -- Since 1997, Kids' Chance of Pennsylvania, Inc. has provided 10 years of educational opportunity to Pennsylvania students in need.
In addition to other events throughout the year, Kids' Chance of PA will mark the anniversary at its "Tee Off for The Kids!" Golf Outing and Dinner on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 during the PA Bureau of Workers' Compensation 6th Annual Conference in Hershey, PA. Details are available at www.kidschanceofpa.org.
In the years since its first award, Kids' Chance of PA has granted $369,750 in scholarships to 263 eligible applicants from every corner of Pennsylvania. Individual scholarship grants are based upon demonstrated financial need and admission of the applicant to an institution of higher education, including technical schools. Additional partnered grants are made available to students who exhibit academic merit. Through a partnership with PATH, a program of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) and American Educational Services, Kids' Chance of PA also accesses matching educational grants for scholarship recipients with remaining unmet financial need. The number and amount of scholarship grants awarded by Kids' Chance of PA each year is dependent upon the number and eligibility of students who apply as well as available funds.
In announcing the anniversary, President Suzanne Emmet said, "The hardships to children and families created by the death or serious disability of a parent often include financial ones, making it difficult for deserving young people to pursue their educational dreams. For 10 years, Kids' Chance of PA has proudly made a significant difference in the lives of affected Pennsylvania families by providing scholarship support to help eligible students pursue and achieve their higher education goals."
Kids' Chance of PA is one of 28 similar, yet independent, non-profit organizations nationwide and draws its support from individuals, foundations, businesses and organizations with an interest in workers' compensation-related issues and/or providing higher education opportunities to young Pennsylvanians.
