IRVINE, Calif. -- Kofax (LSE:DCM), the world's largest information capture vendor, today announced that it has joined Ricoh Corporation's Developer and Strategic Alliance Programs. Geared toward the distributed scanning market, the integration of Ascent Capture enables Kofax Certified Solution Providers and customers to leverage Ricoh's Multi-Functional products (MFPs) to scan documents into Ascent Capture.
Ascent Capture accelerates business processes by collecting paper documents, forms and e-documents, thereby transforming them into accurate, retrievable information, and delivering the content into an organization's business applications and databases. In this case, Ascent Capture helps automate the capture of information from documents and forms that are processed through Ricoh's GlobalScan and MFPs, and then delivers that data into a designated business application, for example customer relationship management, enterprise content management, enterprise resource management or supply chain management, among others.
"Many organizations struggle with slow, manual, paper-driven business systems that burden them with high costs, inefficiencies, and regulatory and compliance risks," said Doug Rudolph, VP of Business Development at Kofax. "The alliance between Kofax and Ricoh provides a suite of products for transforming those paper-based business systems into efficient automated processes that improve business workflow and productivity; provide quick, secure access to all information; reduce the costs associated with time-consuming paper processes; and enable compliance and minimize risk."
"In today's workplace, most companies are looking to fully maximize MFPs and not limit their use to just copying and faxing," said Hidetsugu Nonaka, a Senior Vice President, Document Solutions and Services Division of Ricoh. "With the alliance between Kofax and Ricoh, our customers now have access to one of the world's leading capture solutions to address ad hoc and low to mid volume distributed capture."
Ascent Capture's modular architecture supports a wide variety of business requirements. Workgroups and departments can use the basic application out-of-the-box to meet most of their information capture needs. Large enterprises can extend Ascent with modules to capture information directly from remote offices into central business workflows. Lastly, industries with specific information requirements can take advantage of dozens of specialized modules written by Kofax's Certified Solutions Providers (CSPs).
GlobalScan performs as a digital document warehouse that accepts scanned documents and creates, delivers and stores digital files for electronic transmission over a network to virtually any location via e-mail, fax or scanning to network/home folders. Complete access to GlobalScan's document capture and distribution features can be done directly from a Ricoh MFP operation panel, providing scanning, copying, printing and faxing operations all in one footprint. By combining these features in one MFP, organizations can reduce the high cost of multiple desktop scanners and improve office efficiency in document capture and distribution.
