DALLAS -- Tenet Southern States announced today that L. Joe Austin has been named chief executive officer of Tenet's North Fulton Regional Hospital, a 167-bed acute care facility located in Roswell, Ga. Austin most recently served as chief executive officer for Huntsville Hospital, a 558-bed hospital

Austin, 49, is a veteran hospital administrator. He is a certified health care executive and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has served on several civic and health care-related boards and commissions in Alabama, including being appointed by the governor of Alabama to serve on the Statewide Health Coordinating Council of the Alabama State Health Planning and Development Agency. Under his leadership, Huntsville Hospital won multiple awards from third-party quality measurement groups such as HealthGrades, and has been listed as a Top 100 Hospital in America by HCIA-Sach's Institute for Orthopedics and a Top 50 Pediatric Hospital in America by Child Magazine.
Austin holds a bachelor of science degree in psychology and a master's degree in business administration from University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
