MINNEAPOLIS -- A vibrant market education initiative, produced by Procuri, the On Demand Supply Management company, will raise awareness and establish a framework for best practices in supply excellence - the discipline that takes a holistic approach to sourcing, contracts and supplier management.
This thought leadership endeavor, including web log and white paper series, is being managed and authored by Tim Minahan, senior vice president for Procuri and one of the industry's most respected advocates for supply management leadership.
SupplyExcellence.com Provides Forum for Knowledge Sharing
The web log, SupplyExcellence.com, will profile supply strategies, best practices and case studies to help companies of all sizes and industries accelerate results and drive continuous improvements in global supply management performance.
Launched on April 30, the blog provides a unique online forum for procurement and supply management executives to identify and share best practices on all aspects of supply management. Postings are expected to cover everything from alternative organizational structures to low-cost country sourcing and supplier development, in a user-friendly and highly searchable format.
"The discipline of supply management has advanced more in the past five years than in the previous twenty," said Minahan. "As procurement and supply management organizations increase their involvement in cost reduction, risk mitigation, and value creation, we're very excited to be providing a forum where peers and colleagues can exchange ideas for innovation and continuous improvement."
White Papers Define Best Practices
An ambitious series will be rolled out over the coming months, designed to provide a framework for defining and executing strategic supply management initiatives that can improve efficiency, reduce costs and drive stronger business performance.
The first three papers have been defined, as follows:
--Supply Management Excellence will discuss ways to achieve best value performance in support of the strategic objectives of the business. It will describe the process of aligning organizations, processes, and systems to identify, negotiate, organize and manage to continuously improve global supply.
--Strategic Sourcing Excellence paper will examine the organizational, process, and system requirements required to effectively negotiate and sustain best value supplier relationships in the face of seemingly unpredictable and tightening global markets.
--The On Demand Handbook will define and clarify emerging On Demand and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions and provide a framework for assessing their fit in current enterprise environments. The paper will provide criteria for evaluating On Demand applications, content, and services it will include quantified metrics on advantages in implementation cycles and license and deployment costs, as well as additional metrics on usability, service levels, and performance and profile enterprise On Demand experiences.
