Belo announced today that David Duitch has been appointed vice
president/Capital Bureau, a position where he will oversee the company's Washington D.C.-based newspaper, television, and online operations. Duitch is currently vice president/news for the Belo-owned WFAA-TV station based in Dallas. He begins his new job in January.

"David is an outstanding journalist who has led our flagship television newsroom to some of its best work," said Jack Sander, president/media operations, in a statement. "The WFAA news department is positioned for continued success. In Washington, David's commitment to journalistic excellence and to content-sharing across Belo media operations promise to lead the Capital Bureau to an even larger contribution in the future."

Duitch also served as executive news director at WFAA. Under his leadership there and at other Belo-owned stations throughout the country, his newsrooms have won a duPont-Columbia Award, a Peabody Award, and national and regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, among other honors.
