The Peninsula Daily News of Port Angeles, Wash., has launched a new online audio feature that lets readers call in and record "letters to the editor" that are then posted on the Web as part of an opinion forum. The new feature is called Peninsula Soapbox.

A release from the paper describes the forum as being "like interactive talk radio but takes Internet bulletin boards and online news groups to another level -- recorded voice."

The Soapbox is located on the newspaper's Web site. It allows users to enter a discussion, hear comments others submit, and replay their own comments for review.

Peninsula Daily News, which is distributed in Clallam and Jefferson counties on the North Olympic Peninsula in Washington state has an average daily circulation of 19,500.
