Columnist Estrich Takes on Ann Coulter in New 'Soulless' Book

This is not what President Bush had in mind when he said "Bring 'em on," but a second anti-Ann Coulter book has been published this week.

"Soulless: Ann Coulter and the Right-Wing Church of Hate" (Regan Books) is by Creators Syndicate columnist Susan Estrich, whose

politics are centrist/liberal. The conservative Coulter -- author of this year's "Godless: The Church of Liberalism" -- is with Universal Press Syndicate.

Estrich's 272-page book takes a hard look at Coulter, who's known for nasty insults about some 9/11 widows and "joking" about the deaths of Arabs, liberals, and New York Times people. Estrich also writes about how various media outlets keep giving Coulter a forum, about other right-wing commentators, and more.

The cover of "Soulless" pictures Estrich in a black dress parodying Coulter's pose on the "Godless" cover.

Also this week, William Morrow published "Brainless: The Lies and Lunacy of Ann Coulter." Its author, Joe Maguire, subsequently lost his job as a Reuters editor -- and the reason might have been the book.
