'Mutts' Contest Names 13 Pet-Photo Winners

MuttsComics.com today announced 13 winners of its first pet photo contest, which drew more than 1,300 entrants.
Each winner will receive a copy of Patrick McDonnell's new cartoon collection -- "Everyday Mutts: A Comic Strip Treasury" -- signed by McDonnell and photographer Kim Levin, who judged the contest. The book's cover features a Levin photo of McDonnell's real-life Earl the dog -- model for the cartoon Earl in "Mutts."
Contest categories included funniest pet, cutest pet, most photogenic pet, best-dressed pet, most creative photo, "best in show," best cat portrait, and best dog portrait. Winners hailed from New York, Indiana, New Mexico, Germany, England, Brazil, Canada, and other locales.
"Mutts" is distributed to nearly 600 newspapers by King Features Syndicate.
