Gannett Cuts 31 Jobs at Cincinnati Community Press
Gannett Co. is cutting 31 jobs at a former Cincinnati-area business and moving printing of 27 Community Press and Community Recorder (Kentucky) newspapers to the company's new plant built for the Journal & Courier in Lafayette, Ind.

parent Home Town Communications Network Inc. in March of 2005. When the acquisition was announced, Gannett and Home Town said no layoffs were anticipated, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier. The Business Journal reported the cuts were announced today in an e-mail to employees, in which General Manager and Editor Susan McHugh said those affected will receive "severance and benefits options, job opening information and outplacement services."
By moving production to the J&C's plant, the papers will be able to print color on all pages, which will appear in the approximately 12x18-inch Berliner format for which the plant's new press was built and which made the J&C the first North American daily to convert top the compact format (E&P, Oct. 2006).
