Robb Montgomery, news design editor at the Chicago Sun-Times, is leaving the paper to become a full-time design consultant and to devote more time to the design networking Web site he founded, VisualEditors.com.

According to a post on that site, Montgomery's first consulting client is Clarity Media Group, owners of The Examiner chain of free tab papers.

Montgomery designed the youth-oriented daily tabloid RedStreak, which launched in October 2002, and was one of the principal editors involved in the 2003 redesign of the Chicago Sun-Times.
