  1. Updated Viewer
Microsoft's most extensive update to the Viewer since 1997. (Also see "What you need to know about the new PowerPoint 2003 Viewer.")

  2. Package for CD
Packages an entire PowerPoint presentation to CD, with the Viewer included. Playback requires no additional files or installation, and presentations run with full fidelity off the CD, provided the playback takes place on a machine running Windows 98 Second edition OS.

  3. Windows Media integration
Allows playing of full-screen Windows Media movies by importing them into your PowerPoint presentation.

  4. Broader file compatibility
It's now possible to import a variety of new audio, video and play-list formats, such as ASX, WMX, M3U, WVX, WAX and WMA.

  5. Office Online
Integration with the Microsoft Web site provides a wider selection of clip art and templates. PowerPoint's Help menu takes you online, guaranteeing the available help files are always up to date.

  6. Tablet PC features
Electronic-ink function allows annotation on PowerPoint slides with a stylus.

  7. Research task pane
Contains a handy thesaurus and provides access to Internet searches from within PowerPoint.

  8. Windows Server 2003 integration
Used with Windows Server 2003, PowerPoint 2003 allows for easier team review and sharing.

  9. No more Meeting Minder
The helpful feature that let meeting participants take notes as they went through a presentation is history.

  10. No Movie mode
Users of PowerPoint X (for Macintosh) can burn PowerPoint files to CDs and have them run as movies. Windows users still have to wait – PowerPoint 2003 can't do this.
