``Game'' is written by Frost and based on his best-selling book ``The Greatest Game Ever Played: Harry Vardon, Francis Ouimet and the Birth of Modern Golf.'' It tells the true story of the legendary 1913 U.S. Open, in which Ouimet, a 20-year-old amateur from Massachusetts, shocked the golf world by defeating British champion Vardon, the most famous pro golfer of his time, and fellow British golfer Ted Ray. LaBeouf would play Ouimet.
LaBeouf first gained attention for his work on Disney Channel's ``Even Stevens,'' for which he received a Daytime Emmy as outstanding performer in a children's series. He also received critical praise for his starring role in ``Holes'' and headlined Miramax Films' ``The Battle of Shaker Heights.'' He next appears in ``I, Robot'' and ``Constantine.''
