ASCAP Accepting Submissions
The ASCAP Foundation Musical Theatre Workshop is currently accepting submissions for the April/May 2000 New York program, to be directed by Stephen Schwartz. To apply, please submit
a tape of four songs with lyric sheets, a brief description of each song as to its plot placement, a brief synopsis of the musical, and biographical information. Tapes will not be returned. New Writers Series
A new reading series sponsored by the Theatre Commun-ications Group (TCG) and New Dramatists will offer major playwrights the chance to host and pull together readings by other major playwrights.
Dubbed "The Playwright's Voice" and running Tuesday evenings through the end of February, the four seminars will look at, respectively, "Neglected Work/Beloved Monsters," "Legacies: Asian-American Drama," "Uncommon Visions," and "Celebrating Contemporary Latina/o Playwrights."
Among the notable participants are Tony Kushner, Mac Wellman, David Henry Hwang, Jack Gelber, Romulus Linney, Megan Terry, Craig Lucas, Luis Alfaro, and Migdalia Cruz.

DGA Nom to Marshall
Best known for choreographing and co-directing "Cabaret" and choreographing and directing "Little Me," Rob Marshall has now garnered a Directors Guild of America Award (DGA) nomination for helming the 1999 musical TV movie, "Annie." Marshall was nominated in the Musical Variety category.
When the Walt Disney-Storyline Entertainment production aired Nov. 7, 1999, the ratings went through the roof. Subsequently, the movie sold more than a million video copies.
The DGA Awards will be announced March 11 in Los Angeles.
