Oasis will tour for the first time since September of 1996 in support of the group's third Epic album, 'Be Here Now.' The tour begins Jan. 8 at the E Center in Camden, N.J. Oasis played only four U.S. shows in the past 16 months, including June 18-19 supporting U2 in Oakland, Calif., and Oct. 7-8 headlining the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.
Sources say KFC has been named as the tour sponsor for next year's LeAnn Rimes/Bryan White Something To Talk About tour. The tour starts New Year's Eve at Target Center in Minneapolis.
Billy Joel will play six nights at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y., beginning Jan. 29 and another six nights at Philadelphia's CoreStates Center beginning Feb. 5. The brief winter tour opens Jan. 27 in Portland, Me., following rehearsals at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
As previously reported, Joel will join Elton John for dates in Asia and Australia Feb. 28-April 3. The pair will also play two shows at Dublin, Ireland's Croke Park May 29-30. Other cities include Glasgow, Scotland; Manchester, England, and London (two Wembley Stadium dates June 6-7); Dusseldorf, Berlin and Munich, Germany; Vienna, Austria; Zurich, Switzerland; Paris; Copenhagen, Denmark; Helsinki, Finland; and Gothenburg, Sweden, June 27
Jane's Addiction's Halloween reunion concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City was marred by extensive counterfeiting. By direction of the New York City Police Department, representatives of producers Metropolitan Entertainment and Matt E. Silver turned away several hundred, many with valid tickets, gathered outside the venue
'In more than 20 years of producing and promoting concerts, I have never seen this level of sophistication of counterfeiting,' said Metropolitan's John Scher, adding that valid ticketholders would be refunded
More than 200 counterfeit tickets were confiscated, but several hundred more made it thorugh. Metropolitan, working with Ticketmaster and law enforcement agencies, launched an investigation. A formal complaint was already filed against one suspected counterfeiter.
The Palace of Auburn Hills (Mich.) booked a pair of budget radio shows for December. The top ticket is $15. 'Holiday Hootenanny,' sponsored by 96.3, features The Cure, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Duncan Sheik and Huffamoose Dec. 12. 'Nightmare Before Christmas II,' with Megadeth, Jackyl, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Howling Diablos and Creed, is Dec. 17; it is sponsored by WRIF 101
Las Vegas will host its first international music conference May 14-16 next year during EAT'M, the Emerging Artists and Talent in Music gathering produced by Tenner and Associates. The event, to be held at the Desert Inn, will present more than 150 live showcases at 15 venues around the Las Vegas strip
