Dave Snowden, president/CEO of Triangle Talent Inc. in Louisville, Ky., has announced the addition of a branch office and a further expansion of the 38-year-old company. Mark Sparks of More Than Magic Productions, Springfield, Mo., has merged his company with Triangle Talent and will spearhead grounds attractions and special free attractions for fairs, festivals and special events across the U.S.
Sparks will keep his office open in Missouri and oversee the daily operation of grounds entertainment scheduled at events from his office.
The Obie Co. will provide the lighting for Mariah Carey's upcoming Pacific tour, which begins in January
Temptress, the 'World's Only All-Male Girl Band,' has filed with the Guinness Book of World Records for the record of performing in front of the largest audience ever in a single day. 'We believe we achieved the record in New York City Oct. 31, 1997, Halloween night, performing in fishnets and lingerie throughout the day on a moving flatbed truck,' said group leader Kandi Asse, aka Chuck Garabedian.
By performing a continuous set more than 35 times, spanning 13 hours and 27 minutes, New York City police estimated the day's total 'attendance' for the band to be between 2.4 million and 2.6 million people. If approved by the Guinness folks, that would top Michael Jackson's previous record of performing in front of an estimated 600,000 in Malaysia
The fifth annual Kerrville Music Awards, co-hosted by 1972 original Kerrville Folk Festival performers Carolyn Hester and Ray Wylie Hubbard, was set for Dec. 4 at the ballroom of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs in Austin. Multiple nominees include Bill and Bonnie Hearne (four), David Amram (four), Abra Moore (three), Tom Prasada-Rao (three), Tish Hinojosa (three) and Shawn Colvin and Shake Russell (two each). Hall of Fame member Hubbard is nominated for Texas Album of the Year, and Hester is nominated for the Hall of Fame
