The 15-year-old Lexington Scenery and Props, based in Sun Valley, Calif., will be opening a European operation in June. Lexington Europe, S.L., in Valencia, Spain, will be headed up by Andy Hanlen, currently vice president of contracts.
"There are significant project
opportunities in Europe, many with existing clients," said Frank Bencivengo, CEO. "We believe by opening an operation there, we will be positioning ourselves better to service our existing, as well as our future clients throughout Europe."
Lexington is an independent scenery company that creates themed environments for theme parks, museums, theaters, zoos, aquariums and other venues.
Bencivengo told AB he feels the current European business climate dictates that if a company wants to do business in Europe, it should have a European presence.
The new Spanish facility will support Lexington's projects as well as future work resulting from the new joint venture between Action Park S.L. and Lexington Europe, S.L. Action Park creates rock work and works with fiberglass, "two things we don't do," said Bencivengo.
