Globe Facility Services of Tampa has been named technical advisor for the United Spirit Arena, a $51.7 million, 15,020-seat facility now under construction on the main campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
The 230,000-square-foot building, which will feature a permanent hardwood basketball court, 24 luxury suites, meeting facili-ties, athletic offices, and a food court, will be the home of the Red Raider men's and women's basketball teams and the women's volleyball team.
Another part of the arena will house a basketball training facility with practice courts and training rooms. The arena, scheduled for a fall opening, will also be used for commencements, concerts and other special events. The architect is Rosser International of Atlanta.
According to Mich Sauers, president of Globe Facility Services, GFS will provide expertise in several areas, including identifying appropriate furniture, fixtures and equipment, design review, marketing assistance, and general area operations.
GFS provides management services for Whittemore Center on the campus of the University of New Hampshire, Durham; Mercer County Arena, now under construction in Trenton, N.J.; Colorado Springs World Arena and Ice Hall, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Tsongas Arena in Lowell, Mass.; James L. Knight Center, Miami; Harborview Center, Clearwater, Fla.; the Pueblo (Colo.) Convention Center.
