Lisa Jo Sagolla, Choreographer, Teacher and Author

Lisa Jo Sagolla is the author of The Girl Who Fell Down: A Biography of Joan McCracken (Northeastern University Press, 2003), a finalist for the Theatre Library Association's George Freedley Memorial Award for outstanding book in the area of theatre and live performance. She is the Dance and Movement

columnist and a theatre and dance critic for Back Stage and has written extensively on dance, theatre, and film for scholarly journals, encyclopedias, and trade publications. The choreographer of more than 75 Off-Broadway, regional, summer stock, and university productions, Sagolla teaches dance at Columbia University, New York University, Marymount Manhattan College, and Dance Theatre of Harlem. She holds an Ed.D. in Art and Art Education from Columbia University.
