California isn't the worst state for disasters.

Calif. isn't the worst state for disasters, despite what you hear in the media and from friends in the East. Sure, it leads all states in earthquake and wildfire losses...and in damage from cold weather, too, according to American Hazardscapes from the National Academy of Sciences. But it ranks extremely low in tornadoes, thunderstorms and hurricanes.
