California ISO Extends Flex Your Power NOW! Power Watch Through Friday, July 22, 2005.

FOLSOM, Calif. -- As the heat wave continues through tomorrow, the California ISO is continuing to urge conservation via a Flex Your Power NOW! Power Watch, which it is extending through tomorrow, July 22.

Today's peak demand was 44,651 megwatts. The Stage Two Electrical Emergency

issued earlier today will be terminated shortly. The only impact from the Stage Two was when the California ISO requested approximately 200 megawatts worth of voluntary air conditioning cycling.

The ISO does not anticipate any major issues in meeting the expected demand tomorrow, but the ISO system will be heavily loaded. Conservation -- especially across the afternoon peak hours -- helps reduce the demand and gives the ISO additional options should contingency actions be required.
