SBA's National Small Business Week Honoring America's Top Entrepreneurs

The U.S. Small Business Administration will mark Small Business Week 2007, with events to be held on April 23-24, 2007, at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, D.C.

"For more than 40 years, the SBA has recognized outstanding small business owners for their contributions to the nation’s economy and for their personal achievements during small business week. Since 1963, every President has declared National Small Business Week to formally recognize the important role of America’s small business community."

The two-day conference will focus on small business accomplishments, including disaster recovery, procurement and entrepreneurial success. More than 100 small business owners will be honored at four major award events, culminating with the announcement of the National Small Business Person of the Year. The 2007 honors will include the Phoenix Awards, the Champion Awards, the Lender Awards and the Federal Procurement Awards.

Two small business contractors, one from Tennessee and the other from New York, were named the National Prime Contractor of the Year and National Subcontractor of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

SBA Champion Awards were presented at an evening reception on April 23, 2007 in Washington, D.C. as part of the annual observance of National Small Business Week.

"The SBA is proud to honor people who are among the true champions of small business and whose tireless efforts have provided tangible and significant support to small businesses and their communities," said SBA Administrator Steven C. Preston. "They provide the counseling, advice and support that small business owners need, and foster an environment in which the spirit of entrepreneurship can flourish."

The award winners are recognized for their efforts and excellence in various aspects of small business.
