Do you have an IVR? Are you thinking about getting one? No, that´s not a new piece of medical equipment nor is it the latest device that incorporates a cell phone, laptop computer, camera, and coffee pot into one piece of hardware. "IVR" stands for "Interactive Voice Recognition", also known as voice mail.If you´re thinking about getting one for your business, or if you already have one, you need to listen to Jeff Hoyt´s podcast, Voice Jail. A 15-minute podcast, it is funny while making several great points for those who abuse- er-use them. It should be required listening for managers and owners before they install them.

Jeff makes three very good points about voice mail. I´ll not give them away because it is well worth your time to listen.

Remember, your customers form relationships with you and your employees. Not with your voice mail system. Don´t forget the human touch!
