More from Morphy
Morphy Richards is looking to continue its growth in the vacuum cleaner market with the launch of a new range of steam cleaners, an advertising campaign to support its PremiAIR range and new p-o-s for its Goblin Aquavac appliances.
Says David Boddy, product group manager at Morphy Richards, "Our position in the cylinder market has been growing over the last 12 months driven by the success of our compact cleaners.
"However, the growth of our brand has largely gone unnoticed. In the cylinder market, Morphy now has approximately a 10% share making it the fourth biggest brand."
Morphy will also move into other sectors within the vacuum cleaner market. The company says that the launch of its Grimebuster takes steam cleaners into the 21st century.
Later this year, will see Morphy move into the upright cleaner market with the launch of Ultralight.
For the immediate future, Goblin will continue to develop the sector in which it has always been successful- the sub-80 [pounds sterling] cylinder sector.
Zap up dirt with the Zorbster
Dyson has unveiled the DC04 Zorbster vacumm cleaner, which has an integrated carpet cleaning system, to keep carpets looking new.
The cleaner has been specially developed to dispense and groom Zorb carpet cleaning powder into the carpet.
Zorb granules are like millions of tiny sponges that contain cleaning agents. When among the carpet fibres, the granules attract and absorb the dirt molecules. The granules containing dirt can then be removed by vacuuming.
The DC04 Zorbster, which is silver and lavender, also features a brush control system that can be switched on or off to adapt to carpets or hard floors, an instant hose and wand to clean a full staircase and a self-adjusting head to maintain close contact with all floor surfaces.
It includes a Zorb pouch, a spot cleaner and a floor tool to vacuum under low furniture.
Down, down, deeper and down!
Bissell has extended its deep clean floorcare portfolio to include an upright deep cleaner with grooming brush.
The new Powerwash ProHeat is a further enhancement of the company's successful `intelligent' Powerwash shampoo machine.
It gently grooms the carpet with its rotating powerbrush, lifting out deep down dirt through its SmartClean system.
A SmartMix dial adjusts the cleaning solution mix for every task, altering the amount of concentrate to water mix to suit the degree of soiling.
Accessories include an on-board upholstery cleaning tool, hand spray/suction head and an extra-long three metre hose for use on stairs.
Computer controlled cleaning from SEBO
SEBO claims that its new x4 series of upright vacuum cleaners offers outstanding performance and ease of use.
The SEBO Computer Control System optimises the brush height to the floor surface, whether carpet or hard floor, and automatically shuts down the vacuum cleaner if there is a problem such as a blockage. The X4s can also clean under furniture.
In addition, the appliances can be converted to carpet cleaning machines by using the brush function to work SEBO duo-P cleaning powder into the carpet.
All of the cleaners have the British Allergy Foundation's seal of approval.
Sanyo extends Pulse range
Sanyo is hoping to fill a gap in the medium to top-end sector of the floorcare market with the launch of its new Pulse bagless cylinder cleaner range.
The company has introduced two Pulse cylinder appliances - the SCX-2000 and the SCX-2200. Both have been designed with hygiene and efficiency in mind and include Sanyo's DustPress System, which compresses the dust tightly within the canister.
To empty, users unclip the base and the dust is ejected downwards by rotating the internal spiral mechanism.

Miele offers an Alternative
Miele is introducing a new concept to its floorcare line up with its latest product launch - the Alternative.
Available from November, the Alternative is designed to offer the perfect alternative to a full sized vacuum cleaner, either for small homes or as an additional product in larger homes.
Miele says that the Alternative, which weighs only 4.2 kg, is easy to manoeuvre and very versatile to use.
The vacuum cleaner's tube can be taken off and attached to the suction end of the body to enable users to reach under furniture.
The Alternative can also convert into a hand-held cleaner for use on upholstery.

Tough and thorough dirt buster from Rowenta
Rowenta has launched the Collecto - a new wet and dry vacuum cleaner.
The company claims that it is as tough and thorough at dirt busting in the home as it is cleaning up in the garage or garden.
The generous sized container with a ten litre capacity for dust pick-up and eight litres for wet pick-up, is designed for easy use and clips onto the base unit which houses the motor. This means there is no need for any dismantling of the appliance after each job.
Two swivel castors and two large wheels make the Collecto easy to manoeuvre as well as tip resistant, and there are two additional tools for cleaning upholstery and getting into crevices.
Eco-friendly from Polti
Polti's newly launched Ecologico range solves I the problem of dust disposal for vacuum cleaners.
Recognised by the British Allergy Foundation, which has awarded these new products its seal of approval, the Ecologico vacuum cleaners provide a USP opportunity for retailers.
Instead of a bag, they have a water filter that, according to Polti, retains virtually all dust, dirt and harmful allergens.
This filter is part of a six or eight (depending on which model) stage filtration system, including HEPA filter, that captures 99.97% of dust particles and ensures only purified air is expelled
The dust remains trapped in the water tank.
Polti says that none can escape when it's emptied, as it is simply poured away. The filter can then be rinsed, refilled and reused.
