Choice Hotels

is making it difficult for travelers not to stay at one of its eight U.S. brands this summer. Two promotions the company announced at its recent annual convention in Atlanta combine branding, freebies and reduced room rates.

For Choice's midscale brands-Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Clarion, Quality, Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites-the can't-miss promotion is an extension of last summer's successful gasoline giveaway. This summer, guests who stay two consecutive nights at one of the brands' 2,400 U.S. properties receive a $5 gasoline card and a coupon for one of four free Extra-Value meals at McDonald's. The chain will also offer reduced Summer Fun rates during the season. The partnership with McDonald's represents the fast food giant's first large-scale promotional tie-in in the hotel business.
