Carlstadt, N.J.— Knickerbocker Bed Co., aiming to expand the reach of its premium bedding support systems, has added a veteran bedding retailer to its team.

Frank Tamburelli has been named sales manager and given the responsibility of presenting the company's expanded product lineup

to national accounts.

Tamburelli was the principal bedding buyer for Hecht's department stores for 23 years. He left the company in May when parent Federated Department Stores consolidated the Hecht's brand into Macy's.

Before joining Hecht's, Tamburelli was bedding buyer for Gimbels and for Hess's Department Stores. He has 30 years of bedding experience.

Richard Polevoy, CEO of Knickerbocker, said Tamburelli "will play an important role in helping our retailers understand how to merchandise our premium frames in order to add incremental sales and give the consumer a real solution for many common support problems they face."

He said that with today's thicker and heavier mattresses, and with more case goods manufactured overseas with lower quality standards than in the United States, "a premium bed frame is a necessity for the consumer."

All Knickerbocker products are manufactured in the United States.
