Sale of Seattle's Best Coffee to Starbucks Is Double Jolt for Java Junkies.

Apr. 17--It was big news for a city big on coffee.

Some got the news yesterday by way of a sign propped on the counter of a downtown Seattle's Best Coffee store: "Today we are pleased to announce that Starbucks has purchased Seattle's Best Coffee."

It was relatively small as corporate mergers go -- Starbucks will pay $72 million for 150 Seattle's Best and Torrefazione Italia stores and a multimillion-dollar wholesale business.
