Kansas City, Mo., Home Improvement Retailer Closes Last Omaha, Neb., Store.

Jul. 29--Sutherlands Lumber and Home Improvement plans to close its store at 2920 L St., the last of four locations once operated in the Omaha area by the Kansas City, Mo., home improvement retailer.

Sutherlands has sold building products in Omaha for more than 70 years, but the arrival of larger home improvement retailers, especially Home Depot, Menard's and Lowe's, has heightened competition for customers.

The L Street store started a closing sale Monday.
