Borders Books & Music to Open Store in Landover, Md.

Borders Books & Music(R) will open a 23,000-square-foot store in Landover, Md., in August 2003. The store will be located outside the Beltway at the intersection of I-495 and Landover Road in The Boulevard

at The Capital Centre shopping mall. The Boulevard is located on the former USair Arena site. The new Borders will offer area residents and commuters a comfortable place to explore a vast selection of book, music, DVD and periodical titles. The store will include a Cafe Borders that offers a variety of gourmet coffees, teas, beverages, desserts and light food items.

The Landover store will be Borders' 23rd in the Washington, D.C., market. The location was selected based on a variety of factors including demographics, the strength of the mall's co-tenants, traffic patterns, the availability of parking and the attractiveness of the site.

"The Boulevard is a retail and entertainment complex that covers 55 acres in eastern Washington, D.C.," said Ray Dinterman, regional director for the new Borders location. "Borders is very excited to be a part of this progressive urban development project that will be a huge draw for shoppers looking to combine their shopping, dining and entertainment experiences in a vibrant atmosphere."

The store will offer corporate discounts to schools, libraries and businesses in the area. Free events like lectures, author signings, musical performances, children's activities and 'Benefit Days' that support local charities will be held throughout the year.
