PMA Report Forecasts Growth in Digital Imaging

According to the Photo Marketing Association Intl.'s 13-page Photo Industry 2004: Review and Forecast, digital images will generate one third of photo printing activity by 2006. The association reports 31 percent of U.S. households owned a digital camera at the end of 2003, a figure PMA expects to

exceed 42 percent by the end of 2004. Nearly 22 percent of digital photo printing activity during 2003 was done in a retail environment. PMA projects more than one third of digital prints will be made at retail outlets during 2004; 60 percent in 2006. Photographic film sales declined by eight percent in 2004, with film processing falling at a similar rate.
