Starbucks Buys Coffee People Stores

Starbucks Corp., Seattle, has bought stores from the Coffee People chain's owner Diedrich Coffee Inc., Irvine, Calif., according to the Associated Press. The deal is reportedly $13.5 million for 40 stores. Diedrich Coffee, a 200-store chain, acquired Coffee People in 1999. Diedrich Coffee said the deal

is subject to several conditions, including stockholders' approval and deed transfers for its store locations.
