Schwam, founder of American Christmas Inc., dies at 63

Marvin Schwam, founder of Bronx, New York-based American Christmas Inc., died of bladder cancer on Dec. 10. He was 63. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Cooper Union in 1964 and founded M. Schwam Floralart and American Christmas in 1968. In 1980, he founded Display Arts and built

it into the leading manufacturer of mechanical figures in the United States. In 1988, Schwam's eldest son, Fred, became owner and president of American Christmas. Today, the company suppliers holiday displays to clients such as Radio City Music Hall, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor and Bloomingdale's.
