American Eagle identifies new concept

Teen specialty retailer American Eagle Outfitters, Warrendale, Pa., has announced MARTIN + OSA as the name of its new casual sportswear retail concept. Targeted to men and women aged 25 to 40, MARTIN + OSA is scheduled to open stores in fall 2006.
"MARTIN + OSA represents an important long-term growth opportunity for our company. It will give us access to the sportswear market for an entirely new generation of shoppers, outside of AE's 15 to 25 year old target customers," said CEO Jim O'Donnell.
The name MARTIN + OSA refers to Martin and Osa Johnson, a married couple from Kansas who documented their travels to remote areas of the world from 1917 to 1936 in film, photographs, books and lectures. MARTIN + OSA will sell classic sportswear styles, including denim and outdoor styles by lead designers Charles and Michele Martin, formerly of Abercrombie & Fitch.
