Office Depot to cut 900 jobs

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Office Depot said will close three of its sites and cut approximately 900 jobs. The cut jobs will result in consolidated operations at eight inbound call centers and three outbound account management locations in six states, and are estimated to generate annual savings near $15 million. The consolidations will take place over an 11-month period, and, according to the filing, "the company will use the services of third-party firms that offer virtual call center environments for most of the company's call center services."
