Oscar de la Renta to open first boutique

Women's apparel and accessories company Oscar de la Renta Ltd. yesterday announced plans to open a 3,000-sq.-ft. boutique at 772 Madison Avenue in November, the company's first freestanding retail store in the United States. Designed by Steven Blatz Architect, the store is located in the former Sergio Rossi space on the corner of 66th street. Special features in the boutique include a shoe catwalk and eveningwear area. "While we will likely open additional stores in the U.S., our freestanding retail is really part of our initiative to expand internationally," said Alex Bolen, CEO, in a statement. "We intend to achieve 'proof of concept' in U.S. markets and then pursue European and Asian locations."
