Albertsons completes Shaw's acquisition
It's official: Grocery store chain Albertsons Inc., Boise, Idaho, has completed the acquisition of JS USA Holdings Inc., which runs 204 Shaw's and Star Markets stores in New England, Albertsons announced Friday. Albertsons now has more than 2,500 stores in 37 states. Albertons has estimated cost synergies
from the Shaw's transaction at between $100 and $125 million in fiscal year 2006. Paul Gannon will remain Shaw's CEO and president and will report to Larry Johnston, chairman, CEO and president of Albertsons.
