Hibbett names new chairman
Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc. announced last week that Mickey Newsome, president and CEO of Hibbett, is adding another title--chairman of the board of directors, effective immediately. He replaces John F. Megrue, Jr., who had been chairman since 1995 when Saunders, Karp & Megrue, L.P. bought a controlling
interest in the company. Saunders, Karp & Mergrue sold its ownership interest in May 2003. Hibbett operates 378 stores within 20 states, mainly in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest.
