The stores will sell products in four core businesses: Appliances, Lawn and Garden, Paint and Tools. The latest Appliance and Hardware outlets, located

in the Boston, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Toledo, Ohio; and Washington, D.C., markets, represent a significant growth strategy following successful tests in 2003. Sears opened its first Sears Hardware store in 1983, debuted a larger 20,000-sq.-ft. format in 1995, and launched the 55,000-sq.-ft. stores in 2000.
