H&M reports 14-percent climb for November sales

Swedish fashion chain H&M Hennes & Mauritz AB has posted a 14-percent year-on-year jump in November group sales. The company also said its Web site group sales for the full year ended Nov. 30 increased 14 percent. The retailer, which operates more than 840 stores in 14 countries, does not provide actual monthly sales figures but said sales were strong in the United Kingdom, Spain and France and continued to rise in the United States. Soft sales in Austria, Switzerland and parts of Germany were attributed to unseasonal weather, which has caused a struggle for European clothing retailers to shift cold-weather apparel.
