Ahold's U.S. Foodservice buys acquires Allen Foods
Although Netherlands-based Royal Ahold N.V. stated numerous times this year that it would not make anymore major acquisitions, the grocery giant has struck again. U.S. Foodservice, the company's wholly-owned foodservice subsidiary, has acquired food distributor Allen Foods, which services the St. Louis,
Kansas City and southern Illinois markets. St. Louis-based Allen Foods' Manufacturing Co. was retained by shareholders and was not included in the deal.
