Winn-Dixie's warehouse concept taking hold with consumers
Test warehouse formats in the metro-Atlanta area appear to be gaining favor quickly for grocer Winn-Dixie Stores Inc., Jacksonville, Fla. The company recently completed the conversion of 38 Winn-Dixie stores into warehouse formats under the SaveRite banner. The converted stores, which began around the
time Cub Foods announced its exit from the Atlanta market last December, lures customers with prices generally much lower than its competitors. The company currently operates seven other SaveRite locations outside Atlanta, mostly in Florida.
